Finding a set of soft orange hand-quilted pillow covers sparked the quilts in the 'Soft Spots' series. I wondered about the hard work and life of the textile worker who had produced those pillow covers, and the beautiful variations of the hand quilting in them. Paired with a soft pink set of cotton sheets, I made this quilt suitable for a play mat for a baby to explore the different textures, or a lap quilt or wall hanging. The hand quilting was done in silk and pearl cotton in concentric rings moving outward from the orange squares. I have attached three small loops to one edge to allow for use as a wall-hanging. The batting is new cotton and the binding was hand finished along the back of the quilt. This quilt measure 40' x 40".
